Tobey, owner and stylist at Sussex Avenue Salon has been in the
beauty industry since January 2002. Tobey’s love of people and
passion for creativity is exactly what drives her devotion to being a
stylist. Tobey, along with business partner Sherie Peterson set out
to create a dream come true when they started the building of
Sussex Avenue Salon in July of 2007; later to open in September of
the same year.
Specializing in color and foiling, Tobey never finds it a dull day at
the job. Whether you’re looking for a touch up or a whole new look,
your vision can come true in Tobey’s chair. AlphaParf , Sussex
Avenue Salons featured color and product line focuses on healthy
hair, true vibrant color, gray coverage, and overall shine. Tobey
believes there is nothing more important than using a product line
that protects as well as enhances her clients’ hair.
Tobey enjoys learning as much as she can about up and coming
styles, techniques and products. She attends continuing education
courses in business as well specialized classes in AlphaParf.
Tobey believes that the beauty industry is a never ending learning
experience; she is always on the look out for the newest methods
and concepts to add to her beauty artistry.
When Tobey is not at the salon she enjoys lots of fun outdoor
activities. Tobey’s garden is her spring and summertime love, her
friends and family will tell you that Tobey can grow the best
veggies in town. On the weekends you can catch her and fiancé
Sean barbecuing with friends, fishing, and getting muddy on their
quads.
Sherie Peterson has had a love for hair since she
was a little girl. Growing up, Sherie gave all her
dollies regular haircuts and each received a fresh
new color, with the help of her marker collection.
Through out High School she did all her friends
hair including her own. Sherie's poor little brother
had perms, colors, you name it. Sherie never really
went after her dream, her love for hair. Sherie
married at the age of 20 and had her first son at 21.
Her second son came shortly after making Sherie a
stay at home mom, doing hair for all her family and
friends. With her second son going into first grade,
Sherie decided she didn’t want to have a 9 to 5 job;
she wanted to finally chase that dream of being a
hairdresser.
Sherie attended Centralia beauty school were she
completed the 1640 hour course in just 9 months.
Sherie’s passion for hair drove her efforts to do
well in school and finish in record time. Out of
school, Sherie started booth renting at a busy
salon in Tenino , WA . There she met Tobey, fellow
stylist, later to learn that Tobey had the same
dream, to own her own salon and give Tenino a
little S.A.S. Tobey and Sherie knew they could not
do it alone and there started the beginning of a
great partnership.
Sherie loves to learn new and updated styles.
Sherie is always looking to learn more about the
industry she loves so much, by keeping up to date
with the newest looks. She believes the most
rewarding thing about her job is when a client walks
away smiling and feeling better about the way they
look.
